Breakables Live Challenge Awards
Starting in 2013 I designed and made awards for my own Meg Walker Originals Challenge Class at the Breakables Live model horse show. The Breakables Live model horse show was held as part of the BreyerFest event at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. This specialized, competitive, and highly regarded event focused on ceramic and breakable models. Each year had it's own theme.
2013 Denim & Diamonds Theme - Breakables Live
1st, 2nd and 3rd Places. Glazed earthenware clay. Hand built. Circus horses with swarovski crystals in their harness. They each came in a fancy embroidered pocket from a pair of blue jeans.
2014 Silver Jubilee Theme - Breakables Live
1st, 2nd and 3rd Places. Terracotta medallion of a knight's horse in full armor. The armor was fired on silver china paint. Will add a photo here when I find it.
2015 Vive la France - Breakables Live
1st, 2nd and 3rd Places. Glazed earthenware clay. Hand built. Three horse breeds of France
2016 Carnival Theme - Breakables Live
1st, 2nd and 3rd Places. Glazed earthenware clay. Hand built. Three dragons inspired by Rio's carnival parade floats.
2017 Gateway to India Theme - Breakables Live
1st, 2nd and 3rd Places. Glazed stoneware clay. Hand glazed and fired Indian elephant in decorative paint.
2018 Off to the Races Theme - Breakables Live
1st, 2nd and 3rd Places. Glazed stoneware clay. Depicting the race of the Tortoise & Hare from Aesop’s fables. Photos show front and back of award tile.
2019 Salute to Horse Heros Theme - Breakables Live
1st, 2nd and 3rd Places. Earthenware clay. Every horse is a hero - hand glazed earthenware tile.
2020 Celtic Fling Theme - Breakables Live
1st, 2nd and 3rd Places. Glazed terra cotta clay. Hand built. Stylized Celtic horse figurines based on ancient artifacts.
2021 Horse of a Different Color Theme - Breakables Live
1st, 2nd and 3rd Places. Glazed earthenware clay. The 1960s were colorful. These award tiles have a distinct 1960-70s vibe in a coloring book style.
