Breakables Live Awards
Breakables Live at BreyerFest is a premier, specialized model horse show focusing on porcelain, ceramic, and fine china models. It is a high-level competition for collectors of fragile, non-plastic models. Usually held the Thursday before the Breyerfest weekend.
For the years 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021 I designed and made the awards for the Breakables Live shows.
2017 - Breakables Live - Gateway to India
The image is an Indian dancing horse with colorful decorations. For the different classes at the show there were different border colors or a different clay color. Each color was hand painted then fired on the tile.
2018 - Breakables Live - Off to the Races
The image is a jockey on his racehorse adjusting his helmet before going to the starting gate for a race. The location is Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The tiles are porcelain done in a two tone Wedgwood style. There were different background and border colors for the different classes.
2020 - Breakables Live - Celtic Fling
The inspiration for these tiles were dancing Celtic Kelpies, shape-shifting water spirits from Scottish folklore, usually appearing as horses.
2021 - Breakables Live - Horse of a Different Color
These tiles will make you think of coloring books, the 1960s or the Horse of a Different Color from "The Wizard of Oz".
